Dr Robb Takes On Banfield
 
Dr John Robb owned a Banfield franchise at Stamford, Connecticut. With Dr Robb at the helm, it was a hugely successful practice turning over close to $2 million per year.  On a typical day, between 60 and 85 clients would come through the doors – clients who trusted the practice, and specifically Dr Robb.
 
Banfield Pet Hospital is a privately owned subsidiary of Mars Inc., that operates 800 veterinary clinics in the United States, Mexico and the UK.  Many of its practices are housed in Petsmart stores.
 
Towards the end of 2012, Banfield informed Dr Robb that they were terminating his franchise. 
 
Dr Robb writes:  “The area where I have been attacked is my stance on over-vaccination.  When I graduated from UC Davis in 1985 the cause of immune mediated diseases like hemolytic anemia did not include antigenic stimulation from vaccines, but now it does. How many of those poor pets who died at a young age of this disease would be alive today if we did not over-vaccinate? 
 
“Our wellness plans should include titers and then we would find out pets can be vaccinated for diseases early in life and maintain a protective antibody titer into their old age.  Why are we over-vaccinating our pets?  The answer is easy – vaccines are a cash cow for Banfield, the pharmaceutical companies and every veterinarian who will not ask the question, “Is this really necessary?”, because they do not want to know the answer!  I am now asking the question and Banfield, through titers, could give the answer.
 
“In my case, as is common in the industry, I chose to give half dose vaccines knowing it would in some way minimize the toxic effect of over-vaccination. This is why they terminated me, along with a bunch of trumped up charges that are true fabrications and lies.  If you go to my website, www.ProtectthePets.com, you will see I have an unwavering agenda to help our pets get the best care possible and go against vets, corporations, the  pet food industry, the pharmaceutical companies and any entity that will put profits over the lives of our beloved pets.  I took a veterinary oath that says in essence I must always follow my heart and do the right thing for those pets and pet parents no matter what the consequences.  I have done this and the consequences are clear. 
 
“Banfield is reporting me to the Connecticut State Board to try and get my license revoked. But far worse than this, they are contacting all my clients to tell them to bring their pets back in to be re-vaccinated.  Based on this I returned to the PetSmart  in Stamford, Ct to warn my clients not to allow Banfield to inject more toxins into their pets’ bodies.  I had handouts in my hands.  When I arrived, Banfield called the police and wanted me arrested.  The police would not do it because I was in the Petsmart store, not Banfield, and the store manager, Greg, said I was not trespassing.  So the police called an ambulance and handcuffed me to a stretcher and whisked me off to Stamford Hospital for Psychiatric evaluation.  I was found completely sane and released in a short while.”
 
Dr Robb is campaigning for Banfield and his profession to conduct titer tests rather than revaccinate animals blind. He says, “I have the right on moral and ethical grounds not to follow a franchise agreement that kills pets by over-vaccination. Banfield’s chief medical officer – Dr. Jeffery Klausner – purposely suppresses Dr Dodd’s research to continue Banfield’s agenda to put profits over pets by over-vaccinating.  Petocide is the systematic destruction of pets for profits by corporations. Their expert Dr Schultz clearly states in multiple places in the documents entered into this case that pets should have a titer done prior to vaccination because if they have a protective level they should not be re-vaccinated.  He goes on to state if they are re-vaccinated when they don’t need it they might have a reaction (which could mean death) which would be criminal.  So in fact Dr Klausner should be charged for cruelty to animals by exposing them to toxins – which carries a prison term and fine if convicted.  You think I am going to follow that standard and I am in violation because I didn’t?”
 
In his closing statement at a preliminary trial, Dr Robb stated:
 
“I have done all I could to protect the pets.  I have been arrested once; handcuffed to a stretcher and taken by ambulance for psychiatric evaluation to Stamford Hospital; been terminated from my position as owner of Banfield the pet hospital of Stamford; had the police sent to my house in New Fairfield by Petsmart, characterized as dangerous to employees necessitating armed guards posted at Petsmarts in Ct; had my website, www.Protectthepets.com, broken into and content removed; had viral emails sent that compromised my e mail; had my paycheck withheld and no money given to me for my hospital or my equipment; there have been harassing phone calls to my wife, and I’ve been lied about in court stating that I said the children in the Newtown Massacre deserved to die because their parents did not believe in God!!! Talk about CHARACTER ASSASSINATION!   This whole trial has been nothing short of a complete and utter lie by the plaintiffs to continue their agenda of petocide by over-vaccination!”
 
The question is, are we pet owners and Dr Robb’s fellow vets going to stand by and allow Dr Rob and his wife Aldona to take the punishment for seeking to be ethical and end pet over-vaccination?
