The information on this site is for all breeds.
I am a retired Standard Poodle breeder that would like to share information with you about over vaccination and how it is effecting our dogs. We cannot continue caring for our companions the way we have for decades, their immune system is quietly being damaged from over vaccination so their life spans are being shortened by many years. Over vaccination is also effecting our feline and equine friends. We must change and educate ourselves. I’m really only the messenger, I have found the experts for you. This site contains information from updated veterinarians that are trying to educate and enlighten us so that we can make educated decisions for our animals. I have personally interviewed, consulted with or worked with many of the vets on this site. California Standard Poodle is for the animals and the people who love them.
The American Veterinary Medical Association and American Animal Hospital Association have publicly stated that annual vaccination is not necessary, and potentially harmful.
Dr Ronald Schultz is virtually the only researcher who has made an effort to understand how long vaccines protect dogs beyond two or three years. Based on his nearly 40 years of research, Dr Schultz states, “The patient receives no benefit and may be placed at serious risk when an unnecessary vaccine is given. Few or no scientific studies have demonstrated a need for cats or dogs to be revaccinated.” Reducing the number of vaccines your dog receives is critical to his health.
In fact, Dr. Schultz has proven over and over again that 1 puppy vaccine at 12 weeks of age or older will provide that puppy with lifetime immunity and protection.
Dr. Karen Becker DVM : “Until very recently, yearly re-vaccinations for pets were thought to be helpful and harmless. (And in many veterinary clinics, they still are.) The traditional veterinary community is slowly awakening to the fact that the health of millions of dogs and cats has been compromised or destroyed by years of repetitive vaccinations.”
Dr. Christina Chambreau DVM: “Routine vaccinations are probably the worst thing we can do for our animals. They cause all types of illnesses, but not directly to where we would relate them definitely to be the caused by the vaccine”.
Dr. Michael Dym DVM: ” Over the past 40 years and 17 generations of dogs and cats we are seeing tremendous increases in chronic ill-health in our pets that was rare in the early 1960′s. Most of these illnesses revolve around breakdown in our pets’ immune systems, and include chronic skin/ear allergies, digestive upset, thyroid/adrenal/pancreatic disorders, seizures, gum/teeth problems, degenerative arthritis, kidney/liver failure, and cancers across all ages and breeds. We are also seeing a record number of behavioral and emotional disorders including alarming and unexplained fears/aggression, as well as difficulty focusing/training and paying attention. The analogy of these compared with escalating immune/behavioral diseases in children is quite disturbing. The two biggest factors in our pets’ population health decline over these generations has been the severe overuse of multiple vaccines and nutrient poor and toxin filled commercial pet foods. We have also failed to address the underlying cause of disease. Homeopathy offers a viable alternative in truly curing pets and making their bodies healthier.”
California Standard Poodle is also a blog in which we welcome questions and conversation.

From a patient of Dr. Leroux DVM here in Hollister, CA.
I’m so glad you started this website. We recently got our goldendoodle vaccinated and within several weeks of doing so suddenly she got a kind of immune disease which attacked the fat cells in her body. She suddenly developed swellings in various parts of her body and had to be put eventually on prednisone to stop her immune system from attacking her in so many ways. She had two operations, been to the vet over a dozen times and cost over $5,000 in vet bills.
There’s no way to make a correlation between the vaccination and the sudden onset of this but I suspect that is what it is. We bought into having her vaccinated yearly and I so regret it now. We hope she actually recovers but it’s still up in the air as to whether she will or not at this point. All animal lovers need to pay very close attention to this. Thank you for putting this information out there.
I have personally spoken with 2 of Dr. Leroux’s DVM assistants Miko and Lisa about over vaccination, yet they continue to re vaccinate their patients year after year. His office is on Sunnyslope Rd. here in Hollister, Ca. In fact, every single vet here in Hollister sends out yearly reminder that our pets are due for vaccinations which is absolutely not true. Our vets have abused our trust in them.
